Joseph McGlynn was born in East St. Louis, Illinois on December 23, 1933. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1955, and his law degree from St. Louis University in 1958. That year, he was admitted to practice in Missouri and in 1966 he was admitted in Illinois.
Mr. McGlynn is a member of the bar associations in East St. Louis, St. Louis, St. Clair County, Illinois and Missouri. He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a member of the Lawyers Association of St. Louis, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers and the Missouri Association of Defense Lawyers.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1958–1960, and has been Honorary Consul General for the Republic of Ireland since 1978. Joe McGlynn was elected as one of the top 100 Irish American Lawyers in 2009–2010.
